I turn curiosity into competence
An engineer by training, a lifelong learner by choice.
An engineer by training, a lifelong learner by choice.

I’m a Master’s student in Materials Engineering, close to finishing my degree.
My path hasn’t really followed a straight line and I never tried to force it to. I usually move toward whatever looks difficult enough to keep me interested, and I tend to stick with things for a long time once I start them.
I prefer steady effort over bursts of motivation (actually true), and I treat learning as something you do daily, not something separated from the rest of life.
Outside university I spent many years in competitive swimming and studying piano, both with regular training and formal commitments. I also attended a sailing course with the Italian Navy, took part in a few academic competitions, did tutoring, and worked summer seasons as a lifeguard.
I’ve always liked environments where people rely on each other and where showing up prepared actually matters.
I’ve lived and studied abroad as well, with longer periods in Australia and China and shorter ones in UK, USA, and France. What I actually enjoy is the contrast: different cultures, landscapes, food, and religions.
I like being immersed in places where my usual references don’t apply, setting aside what I’m used to and trying to look at things with a new, unfiltered perspective.
Recently most of my free time goes into programming and technical projects.
I’m building a “not so small” home server based on Debian with a UniFi setup and I’m learning self-hosting along the way. I’ve also been working on a few personal websites (as this one), mostly as a way to understand how systems fit together rather than just using ready-made platforms.
I originally learned LaTeX simply because I liked how it looked, and at some point it replaced Word entirely: from my second year of university onward every set of notes, report, and assignment has been written in it.
Python started as a tool for financial data back-testing while studying personal finance and gradually became part of my everyday workflow; now I use it for analysis, plots, small utilities, and anything repetitive enough to automate.
I could probably continue for quite a while.
In general I’m curious about systems more than specific fields, so I end up reading about finance, geopolitics, theology, strategy games, and whatever else catches my attention.
I like linking ideas together more than specialising early.
I’m also very Italian about food: pizza is easily my favourite.
I like dogs and animals in general; they feel straightforward in a way people rarely are.
